It was nice to see the suburbs and the end of the walk took us past an outdoor ice rink made on one of the ponds in the Boston Common
We met with the guide for the Freedom tour, heading off with the bells marking 1200 on the dot. Our guide for the tour was dressed in a historical consume and was very enthusiastic and fun.
She took us to and explained the Boston Common, the New State House, the Granary cemetery, the Old State House ( in front of which is the site of the Boston Massacre), finishing at Faneuil Hall.
Boston was created in 1630. It was the starting point of the American revolution - which ended with America declaring its independence from Britain. Key historical figures from the revolution such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere and John Adams all were from and acted in the Boston area.
Having done the revolution in school it was very interesting to see places and things we were taught.
The tour was freezing being a walking tour. We both only just made it to the end. With very sore fingers we got hot drinks from a shop in Faneuil Hall. This area has many markets and shops.
We had to try the famous clam chowder - which we had for lunch, as well as a Lobster Bisque - both were delicious. The chowder was served in a bread bowl.
After lunch we did some shopping in the markets
We decided it was time to brave the cold and make the walk to the Tea Party Museum. Unfortunately when we got there a fire alarm had gone off and the museum was closed. Luckily a tourist tram which we had tickets for was outside the museum, so we hopped aboard for a bit of sight seeing by tram. It was nice to see the sights, Anton's favourite was the original Cheers bar. We got off at a stop close to our hotel and had a bit of chilling time.
With a show planned for tomorrow, we decided this would be the last time to have a spoil just the two of us at a nice restaurant. We found Mistrals up the road was just perfect. It was a real spoil and the service and food was amazing. We had steak, seared salmon and delicious chocolate torte. A lovely evening out together.
