Today we headed off for the last little getaway of our trip, off to Boston. Our flight was at 11:20 so we left Craig's house at 8. We stopped off at the Tim Horton drive-through for some quick breakfast and then headed through the city to the smaller city airport. When we arrived we realized that our bag had been left in the garage at the house. Oh dear! Craig quickly jumped back into the car and headed back to the house while we climbed onto the ferry and headed to the airport to check in. Fortunately we had arrived early so Craig had time to go home and get back with the bag in time for us to make the flight. Phew, close call and really funny actually!

We climbed onto the turbo prop plane and headed to Boston. The flight was fine until the rather bumpy descent and Tess started looking a little green around the gills. We got through immigration and customs fairly quickly. The immigration official did ask quite a lot of questions and we felt relieved when the interrogation was over.

We jumped into a cab and saw our first glimpse of the city before we reached our hotel in the historic area. Our hotel is great, simple but the staff are super friendly which makes all the difference. We sat and planned what we'd like to do over the next few days and then headed out to find some lunch/dinner. It is pretty cold here especially when the wind blows and we felt rather chilly during our walk. We found a lovely cafe just before hyperthermia set in and enjoyed a delicious bowl of turkey chili and Mediterranean eggplant soup. Once we were warmed up we braved the street again and headed to the theatre district. We found the theatre we were looking for and were relieved to warm up again inside. We decided to go and see the Les Miserable movie. It was brilliant. Perfectly true to the stage musical and the cast was excellent. It was a very special and moving way to spend the evening.

Then it was back out into the chilly night and a short walk back to the hotel. We think that Boston has a really nice feel to it and we are looking forward to doing the walking trail and trolley route to some historic spots tomorrow.
