When we got back we found Tanya and Orin getting Orin's sleigh out of the car. We helped them carry it out and then joined them out in the streets of the village so Orin could have a go in the sleigh. The sun came out and although it felt chillier without the clouds it was lovely to see blue skies and sunshine. We had fun as Orin was dragged around and we popped in to the bakery for a warm drink along the way. The choice of lattes, coffees, hot chocolates and tea was amazing. Anton had a pumpkin spice latte. It was part of the bakery's special festive season latte list. Great fun.
Then it was off to the Ridge Runner. The Ridge Runner is an awesome roller coaster type ride at Blue Mountain. You can sit individually or in twos on the toboggan type carts. The carts run on two rails and there's a brake that the driver controls. Craig joined us as we each hopped into a cart and started our ascent to the top of the rails, then we were off. From the start we where amazed at how quick the carts go. It seems crazy that they could stay on the rails on some of the wild turns. We enjoyed every minute of the 10 minute ride. We all had pink cheeks and big smiles when we met again at the bottom. After the ride we headed back to the room for some lunch which Tanya had kindly put out for us
Our washing bag was starting to bulge so we took a load down to the laundry room in the parking lot of the hotel. We had a few issues with getting soap and dollar coins but we eventually managed to get the machine going. Anton then had a sleep and Tess went off to Crock a Doodle Doo to do some pottery painting. It's a fun spot for kids and big kids to spend time out of the cold doing something creative. They then fire the pottery overnight. Clever little business.
At around 17:00 we met at the Italian restaurant for dinner and had delicious meals of pizzas, salmon and osso bucco. Anton and Craig then headed back to the slopes to do some night time snowboarding. The slopes stay open until 22:00 and are brilliantly lit up. Tess finished up the washing and then relaxed with Tanya for the evening. The boys stumbled in from the Irish pub at a crazy hour after much fun on the slopes. Despite the boys being in the dog box with the girls, it was a super day and the weather was perfect. We feel like we've really had the very best of everything. Perfect location, super skiing conditions, delicious food and some special quality family time. What more could one want from the end of a fantastic year!
