The Argentinian people had a referendum - they voted whether they should allow us to stay in the country or give us a short time to wash our clothes and make good! Luckily we were allowed to wash our clothes. We were running on the absolute dregs of our clothes. So we piled off pretty much all of our clothes except what we were wearing to the laundromat.
We have decided to take a bus to Iguazu - so we headed to a travel agent down the road to buy tickets. It ended as a bit of a drawn out thing with trying to pay in cash and waiting at banks and then not being able to draw what was needed
Sarah was saying that they have 30% inflation here, so I think a lot of issues around money makes changing and dealing in Pesos expensive.
We did eventually get the tickets - an 18 hour trip leaving 18 Dec (tomorrow) at 1530.
Anton was feeling a little under the weather, so we went back to the hotel to relax for the afternoon.
Later in the afternoon we walked down the road to the subway station, and caught the train to San Telmo. The oldest suburb of Buenos Aires, San Telmo is best seen on Sunday with its antique market in the square. It also has nice shops to visit. We walked through the suburb a little before settling in the square for dinner.
We have found Buenos Aires very much like a European city. It seems to be a nice city to live in with many parks, squares, a great restaurant vibe and a tango culture. It did however also seem that there were a lot of poor and some of it was quite run down. Also lots of graffiti. Some is very nice and great art - but there is also a lot of defacing things with signatures. Not as bad as Santiago though.
Dinner in the square was fun. They put on Tango shows and the atmosphere is relaxed. Anton ate some more of the Argentinean steak and tried some of the beer on tap. Beer has been very expensive - it's seems a better option to drink wine, which is comparatively inexpensive.
After a fun night we headed home for a earlyish one.
