Having slept in a dorm room we woke up to some of our fellow travellers leaving so got up and headed down for some basic breakfast. It's a good hostel for those heading to and from the airport. We caught up on emails and managed to Skype with all the Blane's who were having an early Christmas lunch. We miss them so much but felt lucky to get a peek into the Christmas festivities.
Then it was time to pack up and head back to the airport. Massively long queue and despite arriving two and a half hours before our flight it was a mad scramble to get through immigration and make it to our plane. Walking to the wrong boarding gate also doesn't help but we made it just in time. Funny thing is there was a problem with the row hitch on the plane so we ended up sitting in the plane on the runway for an hour and forty minutes! Frustration. Luckily we could watch some movies to bide the time so we caught up in some golden oldies.
We finally took off and arrived in Buenos Aires at 21:00. Having contacted our hotel pick up before we left we were dismayed not to see anyone when we arrived. So we called again and it took another hour for our taxi to eventually arrive. We were highly peed off but desperate to get to the hotel. The ride in also took some time but we got our first glimpse of the city. The walkways looked very inviting and I'm sure we will have fun here.
Just before midnight we arrived at our hotel, the Duque Boutique Hotel. Yay! Our room was lovely with a hot shower. Our first hot water experience in over a week. Hallelujah! The reception guys suggested a restaurant down the street so we headed there straight away. They do a delicious array a little empanadas so we tried a few. Great experience and we couldn't believe the restaurant was still open and busy at almost 1 in the morning. It seems Argentina has a very late night culture.
People head out for dinner after 22:00. After dinner we dived into our lovely bed so glad to have made it to our next stop.
