Our journey to visit the iconic Sydney beach, Bondi, took a lot longer than predicted. We had to catch the train, then a bus. It took about 45 minutes.
The beach is a long semi circular bay beach. It is very well organised, and full of people. Really very nice. It's really big and people spread right across the whole surface. It doesn't seem cramped at all, but there are loads of people. It's also full of foreigners. We heard lots of languages.
After dropping our towels we went straight in for a swim
We relaxed lying on the beach and reading our books. Anton went off to grab a mcDonalds burger for lunch. We ate on the beach before heading back to the hostel to get showered for the evening.
We were meeting Tess' moms good friend Linda and her sister Glynis for dinner. We went to meet Linda at St Vincent's, the school at which she works. She took us for a little tour. It's a lovely old school, with a beautiful chapel. Glynis picked us up from the school and took us for a drive to the southern head of Sydney harbour, we got out and walked on a nature path which takes you along the head and gives you a great view of the sea entrance to the harbour and also back towards Sydney city and bridge. It was really nice to catch up with Linda, and meet Glynis. They had some interesting tidbits of information for us.
With rumbles in our bellies, we headed off to Watsons Wharf pub for dinner, which Linda and Glynis kindly treated us to. The wharf also has a lovely view over across the harbour to the city.
Anton and Glynis tried the Sydney Oysters, which were delicious. It was a really lovely dinner.
Heading home we tried to get a look at the harbour bridge and city lights. We managed eventually to get a bit of a look back at St Vincent's from the pool deck.
We have altogether had a great time in Oz and will certainly be back for a visit.
