We then climbed aboard and received a steaming cup of tea or coffee from the dive guys. We relaxed on the upper deck for an hour before heading down for our next dive. A turtle bobbed up on the surface while we were relaxing and we enjoyed seeing his head pop up to check us out before he dived down again. The weather today has been cloudy with little light rain showers from time to time. It is around 28 to 30 degrees here at the moment with high humidity so its been quite steamy.
As we jumped in we had a few drops of rain before descending. This dive was truly fantastic with the most amazing visibility and life all around us. In every direction the water was teaming with fish, tiny ones and slightly bigger ones. There aren't really big fish here but the quantities of smaller ones really make up for it. The corals are also just brilliant and we both felt they must have been the inspiration behind the floaty things in Avatar, for sure!
This site was called King Abdullah Reef and we found it exhilarating. Reefs like this are why people dive.
We were sad when our air was up and we had to surface but it was a wonderful experience. The crew then called us for lunch and we were very impressed with the spread. Roast chicken and potatoes, a carrot and squash bake with cinnamon, salads, hummus, tsatsiki and pita breads. Excellent lunch. We then headed back to the shore and got back just after 4. It was a great day of sun, sea and appreciating God's amazing creation. We both felt very spoilt to have snuck in an unplanned Red Sea experience. Tonight we plan to dine somewhere offering Jordanian fare and then get a big sleep in so we have our best walking legs ready for Petra tomorrow.
