As witht helast time I flew Continental Airlines to Brazil, us passengers that originally boarded in Houston were to remani onboard the aircraft at Sao Paulo. We parked as usual at the gate closest to the entrance to the terminal. Other fellow flights included Lan Chile 767-300 from Santiago, American Airlines 777-200 from New York, and Lufthansa 747-400 from Frankfurt.

During our ground stop I was able to change clothes in what seemed like a very large Economy Class restroom between the 3 doors. Soon after I returned to the seat the ground inspectors who check for passports, and our borading passes finished their sweep mof the cabin. Soon after that the 20 or so passengers from Newark that connected to this final leg were aboard.

We were lucky to pushback early, as we were playing a game of follow the leader with the Lan Chile, and American Airlines flights following us up the coast to Galeao. Takeoff was full power as we commenced the engine thrust from the end of taxi. Take off was smooth and the overall flight to Galeao was uneventful. We flew over Ilha Grande and the coast on what was a very beautiful day for this time of year.

We landed in Galeao and quickly reached our gate, as mentioned before American Airlines 777 landed immediately after us, and the Lan 767 immediately after them. Customs as usual was non-eventful. "Welcome to Brasil Mr. Dolce", then when I responded back in Portuguese the customs offical said "Muito bem".. It is always good to speak the language of the country that you are visiting. Just like every other time before luggage took forever at Rio de Janeiro Galeao Airport. Nothing new, the airport is still as far as the older terminal is concerned a 70's flashback. The facilities would seemingly make a 3rd World airport seem plush and welcoming. However, it is Brasil, something are and never will change.
