We've come to the ski resort of Happo One in Hakuba for a walk and some canyoning.  Firstly the walking.  We went up a chairlift or three and climbed up to a nice lake that still had some snow on top.  Quite nice, although better in the "Summer" - here Summer is July and August, it's officially Spring now.  Anyway this must be a great place to ski - loads of slopes and lifts and an average snowfall of 10m!  They held quite a lot of the winter olympics here back in 1998.  Anyway we've taken a few brochures and intend to come back.

The real reason for coming though was the canyoning.  It was brilliant.  First off though, when they give you two wetsuits you know you're in for a cold one (although included in the price was a nice onsen (hot bath) afterwards that went down a treat!).  The photos do it more justice than I can here but we abseiled, plunged, slid, jumped and climbed down, over and through a raging river that was full of icy water from the top of the mountain.  I repeat: it was brilliant, heart pumping stuff.  Enjoy the piccies.
