As we were so excited the night before, all this packing, getting to know each other (as we didn't have all the time in the world for that), few glasses of wine ... We woke up at 12pm the next day. Although we were a little disappointed that we didn't have an early start we felt fresh from the long sleep and happy that we both shared the same sleeping pattern. (as long as we can!) We made some first pictures in front of Kersti's house, bought some water cause all the signs showed it was going to be a hot day, and started walking towards the suburbs. First car driver, heard that we didn't take a tent for this big adventure, was kind enough to offer his tent to us. It also turned out that his mother had been given Kersti some lectures about social sciences in university. A few cars later we were already in Latvia. We had promised ourselves that we only hitch hike cars, no lorries, but after a nice lorry driver offered us a ride in a parking lot, we couldn't say no. So we had to eat our words already a couple of hours after after promising that. It was also our first experience with Russian on this trip.
Next driver, a quiet nice man, told us a joke about Estonians:" hey, look, what's standing there? - Estonian, he is running." We were suprised, beacuse we didn't have any nasty jokes about Latvians. Anyway, by the end of the day we had reached Lithuania. We ate some sandwitches in a gas station, made some pics once again and caught our final ride of the day: a Polish lorry driver. Our first night went by in a Polish gas station, sleeping in a small bunk bed.
