I've just had the best weekend of my life!!!!
We got to our hotel which was on the beach and i had a very basic room but it looked onto the sea we had hammocks and little grass huts for shade it was just amaazing! It's the first beach we had been to with waves so we had a lot of fun in the sea, one of the volunteers did kite surfing which was awesome. We all just chilled out on the beach that night we were all exhausted so just relaxed!
Saturday about 10 of us decided to get on a speed boat and go to a bar called Pelican Bar which is in the middle of the sea on stilts! It was incredible! It looks like it's about to fall into the sea but it was awesome, apart from the various sea creatures climbing the walls...we then went on further around the bay to Black River, and had a tour ... we saw crocodiles and amazing birds!!! We stopped off at another little drinks place where we topped up our suncream and then there was a tree swing that you could swing on and then plunge into the croc infested river! I wouldn't have gone near it if i was at home!!! it was so bloody high!! But yet again i thought i will never be able to jump into the black river again will i!!! haha so i did was soooo scary!!!!! But i'm so glad i did it!!1 i swam very quickly back to shore!!
After about an hour of swinging we left and headed back to our hotel it takes about an hour to do the trip on the speed boat called "Lucky Day" and it certainly was because two dolphins came within inches of our boat!!!!!! it was unbelievable we could not believe our eyes!! Othe girls screames out "TUNA!!!" which had me in fits of giggles which wasn't the best time to have them as on the way back the waves are insanely big and choppy and the speed boat was just leaping out of the sea it was soooo much fun we were going so fast it was just amaaaaazing!!!!
We then had a nap because we had a reggae festival to go to which apparently last 12 hours!!!
We left at 9pm and we had VIP entry so got free rum and red stripe beer...and we had access to a pool and we had a view of the stage from really high up.
The reggae artists were outrageous! especially the women, they were all really really famous but none of us whiteys had a clue who everyone was so we just danced like crazy people! The women barely got dressed, and they were enoooormous!
Some of the girls got invited on stage to dance it was hilarious they became local celebrities!
We didn't leave the festival until 5am!!! We were shattered and then on th way home my worst enemy Justin Bieber started playing on the radio i was fuming and now the song's in my head all the time...and AJ and the girls keep singing it...bad end to an amazing day!
When we got back it was light so Aj and I couldn't sleep so we lay in a hammock and listening to Micheal Buble and watching the waves and had some sandwiches it was picture perfect! We stayed there all day until 7pm when we left!
In true Jamaican style we had to cram in 21 people into a 14 man mini bus! I have heard so many people moaning and in pain, people got cramps people fell asleep on each other and thus in the process hurt one another, totally mental!
The best weekend ever! Got very emotional because i realised where i was and how much i love it and the people and Jamaica itself! A lot of people are leaving this weekend i can't believe it! I'm starting to become an old volunteer!!! nooo!!
Hope all is well in sunny?? England miss you all xxxx
On the way back th waves

Dad on

Hey AB, wow, what a blog entry, sounds like a fantastic weekend, good on you for taking the leap of faith (in so many ways), so proud of you, keep up the good work, experiences, fun times etc, Michael Buble, listening in hammocks sounds idyllic, bizarrely I just played a gig at the weekend where we played some Buble numbers, big bands are cool where ever you are, and Jack and Holly like his music on in the car in the mornings, along with Heart FM!
Love from all in the British Mandeville, Dad Ruth Jack and Holly xxxxxxxxxxxx
PS any chance of the details where you are staying?
PPS Cocker Spaniel puppy was born today! I want to name it Skivo.
