Well it certainly was – what an absolutely brilliant show Jersey Boys was. It was a very simple stage set which they just quickly kept adding and subtracting from. But the music …. it was awesome – and probably especially enjoyable to our age group.  Our feet kept tapping and we were singing along under our breath the whole show through.  The August Wilson theatre is not that big and our seats were front row of the mezzanine so we had a fantastic view.  I loved the Lion King but for pure enjoyment I think Jersey Boys surpassed it – perhaps because I'm such a music lover and the music in this show touched my very soul.  Ruthie – a huge thank you to you for recommending this show xx.

But before the show we caught a cab to Broadway so that we could grab dinner somewhere close to the theatre.  We ended up having dinner in the Café Nicole which is part of the Novotel and what a delicious meal with a fabulous view over Times Square and not that expensive – two mains, two desserts and a bottle of wine for just over $100

Our mode of transport back to the hotel tonight was relatively tame – just a yellow cab – and once again we were very happy to get inside as the heavens had opened yet again.  We had a couple of drinks in the hotel bar when we got back then headed up to finish packing ready for an early start this morning.

So up at 7am for me this morning – the earliest so far this holiday.  We got all packed up and caught a cab down to Penn Station – so glad we’d done a bit of reconnoitring yesterday as we were able to go straight to the Amtrak Waiting Lounge with out suitcases.  I then wandered off and found some bacon and egg buns and coffee for breakfast and took it back there to eat.  Although we were there pretty early the time passed quickly and it was soon time to board the Acela Express to Washington going via Newark, Philadelphia and Baltimore.  I’m actually typing this on the train – with my laptop plugged into the power outlet at every seat.  We’re in the Business class Quiet Car – dimmed lighting, no cell phones and no loud conversations allowed.  The reclining seats are very comfortable with heaps of legroom. a pull down table, a footrest and free wifi are all part of the deal.  Then there’s a café car in the centre of the train.  Very pleasant way to travel.  It’s still raining a bit this morning and travelling through the countryside you can see a lot of water lying around – remnants of Hurricane Irene I guess.

We’re due into Washington just before 1pm – the journey takes just under 3 hours and our hotel in Washington is only one block from the station.  Well we’ve just arrived in Philadelphia so I’m off to look out the window.

Back soon
Love Anni xx

Singing the song as I type - knew you'd enjoy it. Almost a year ago since I was at the August Wilson and just bringing back the memories. Also recall Margie having creme brulee a lot, so you're probably in for a few treats, although it looks like that one may be hard to beat. A week until we move into our new building - Queen of archiving at present. Keep on keeping on and look forward to the updates.
