We got up at 6am and left the campsite to drive to our second campsite at Chitimba, further north but still on the shore of Lake Malawi. On route we stopped in a town called Mzuzu and hit the market with 1000 Kwacha each to buy the person, whose name we'd picked out of a hat, a crazy outfit. We had also all chipped in to buy alcohol for a leathal fruit punch.
It was fun zipping through the market. Mzuzu is quite poor and Belinda advised us to remove all our watches, rings etc before diving in. It was a Sunday afternoon so the market was probably quieter than on other days, nevertheless we were pounced on by traders trying to sell us what we think were a whole load of clothes probably donated to places like Oxfam! Truly awful polyester numbers, but just what we were after! Most of us came back having not spent our 1000 kwacha budget.
Back on the truck for the remainder of the journey to the campsite, which wasn't as nice as the Chipata campsite.
That evening we had our punch and fancy dress party in the bar which was great fun with everyone looking very silly. We tried not to drink too much and made outselves turn in at midnight because we'd signed up to do the 30km Livingstonia hike the next day...
