in a nutshell: wow, we can't believe it's the 1st of February already - we're hoping the rest of 2006 doesn't fly by as fast as January did! We left a cool, wet and overcast Melbourne this morning and have arrived in our last stop in Oz: a warm (30C) and sunny Sydney. We have got lots and LOTS of things planned before we leave here a week today (eek!) and that included meeting up with a few friends from home - something that's been great to do all over Oz. We are staying a few nights with Peter Black from St Stephen's at his house in Caringbah (just south of Botany Bay), we have plans to visit the Blue Mountains and some of the beaches too...

We are having a fantastic time here in Sydney. The weather was fabulous for the first couple of days but yesterday the temperature dropped 10 degrees and it's been very overcast & threatening rain.
We spent our first day walking around a bit of the city, exploring the Botanical Gardens and taking lots of photos of the Bridge and the Opera House. It was also our wedding anniversary (4 years! how time flies!) so we treated ourselves to a fabulous lunch at the Museum of Contemporary Art's restaurant which has a great view over Circular Quay. We continued our walk through The Rocks, under the Bridge and up to the Observatory.
Day Two - we took the ferry to Manly and did the whole of the 10km Manly Scenic Walk from Manly Wharf to Spit Bridge. It follows the edge of the harbour around little inlets and coves. It has great views of the North and South Heads which form the entrance to Sydney Harbour, we loved it and recommend doing it although it is quite long. The weather had turned so at least we weren't walking in sweltering 35C heat and sun!
That night we met up with Sherina again (last saw her in Brisbane) and a gang of us went out to New Town (or is it Newtown?) for a fantastic Thai meal.
Today we're off to the Blue Mountains - we doing this trip by public transport as you can buy a train pass which gets you all the way to Katoomba and lets you use a hop-on hop-off bus to get to all the scenic routes. Weather hasn't improved and we're hoping it's not going to be cold up there in the mountains - welcome to summer in New South Wales!
