In a nutshell: we have been relaxing in Palolem for 10 days now & have had a really really lovely time here. We are going to be very sad to leave here tomorrow, but leave we must as by Friday we'll be in Hong Kong!
--------------------
Palolem, and all of the sate of Goa really, is very different from the rest of India. The vibe is so much more relaxed and the Portugese have left a European flavour behind them. When we arrived here it was quite a quiet place, over the last 10 days but particularly since Diwali, things have got a lot busier with lots more people arriving and beach huts being build around the sunbathers on the beach as Palolem gears up for its peak season months of Nov - Feb.
We were surprised that so many of the bar & restaurant workers have come here all the way from Nepal, Jaipur, Kerala and all over India for this seasonal work, after March a lot of them will head up to Minali for when their season begins!
Anyway, it's been a fantastic holiday for us, we are now beautifully tanned and our stomachs are back to full working order thanks to the delicious (and not very spicy) food, Jono has particularly enjoyed ploughing through the menus of fresh seafood: Pomfret, Kingfish, Tuna... he even ate some Shark!
We are catching the overnight train tomorrow evening to Mumbai - thankfully we were able to get 2nd class air-con so it should be an ok journey... or have we spoken too soon!
