In a nutshell: Blown away by the beautiful Taj Mahal, we were worried we would be disappointed by it in reality, but it is absolutely magnificent.
--------------------
In keeping with our trekking habits, we got there at 6am to see the sunrise and it was worth it as there were fewer people there, it was still fairly cool and the light was wonderful as the sun rose making the domes of the Taj change colour. Apparently sunset is even better but we couldn't hang around for that.
Jono, unfortunately, had been suffering from the 'Delhi Belly' and we had to stop the car on the way there for him to hurl! Anil didn't seem to mind, he's used to it.
Anil on Western stomachs: "Westerners always get sick at least once in India."
- he's right, we've both had our fair share of the 'runs' etc!
Anyway, we took it easy at the Taj for about 3 hours, it's so beautiful you just sit and stare at it. We walked around the gardens and then went back to the hotel for a little rest.
In the afternoon we went to Agra Fort which is also very impressive and you get a good view of the back of the Taj from it.
We leave Agra tonight on a 30-odd hour train journey to Goa... Beaches, here we come!
