In a nutshell: Home of Jodhpur breeches, saw the fabulous Meherangarh Fort (our favourite Fort!). En route we visited Ranakpur and the incredible Jain temple hidden in the mountains...

---------------------------

We left Udaipur and drove through the mountains (they call them mountians but they're not on the scale of the Himalayas or anything!) and stopped at Ranakpur which has an enormous, frothy, wedding-cake of a Jain temple. It's all carved out of marble and is an impressive sight both inside and out.

We liked Jodhpur very much and Meherangarh Fort took the title of 'Favourite Fort' from Tiger Fort in Jaipur 01 - the Jain temple at Ranakpur
01 - the Jain temple at Ranakpur
. It was in a different class from the other forts and palaces, we think the Maharaja (who has spent a lot of time in Britain) has taken a lot of notes from how the National Trust operates! We had a free audio tour to guide us around the huge palace and it was really really good. Thumbs up to Meherangarh Fort and the Maharaja!

The views from the fort down on the city of Jodhpur were stunning. The buildings in Jodhpur are painted blue (hence the name 'The Blue City') and apparently this serves as an effective mosquito reppellent.

The next day we drove to Pushkar...
