In a nutshell: yesterday was a very wet day in Calcutta! There was also a solar eclipse (40% apparently from Calcutta, not sure where totality was) but we didn't see any of it because of all the cloud! We went for a pretty long walk in the afternoon, north direction this time and then following the river south again. Here are some pictures we took en route. We leave Calcutta at 10pm on the Darjeeling Mail train to New Jalgaipuri where we arrive at 8.30am tomorrow, then it's a (hopefully) swift transfer to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway which will get us to Darjeeling by 3.30pm. Fingers crossed all goes according to plan! (We're not thinking about the train de-railment near Varanasi that we saw all over the news yesterday...!)
