Itinerary in a nutshell...

This time in 8 weeks, 6 days.... we'll be in Kolkata, India!
I guess this is kind of where the countdown begins - the tickets are bought and we have a departure date: 1st October 2005. After what feels like years, but is probably only 1, all major decisions have been made (several times!) and we're going to be off travelling for 11 months until September 2006.
Here's the plan:

1 Oct 05 - Fly from London to Kolkata
INDIA; 1 Oct - 11 Nov 05
Kolkata to Darjeeling for some Himalaya trekking; Varanasi; Agra; Jaipur; Udaipur; Goa; Mumbai
HONG KONG & CHINA; 11 Nov - 14 Dec 05
Hong Kong to Beijing overland & using Chinese public transport!; Shanghai; back to Beijing; Hong Kong & Macau
AUSTRALIA; 15 Dec 05 - 8 Feb 06
Cairns; Whitsunday Islands; Bundaberg; Buddina (for Christmas on the Sunshine Coast); Brisbane; Perth; Alice Springs; Adelaide; Melbourne; Sydney
AFRICA Part 1; 8 Feb - 19 Jun 06
Vaalwater (a couple of hours' drive north of Johannesburg) for 5 months working with Waterberg Welfare Society (HIV/AIDS charity)
AFRICA Part 2; 9 Jun - 11 Sept 06
Garden Route - PE to Cape Town; Overland truck from CT to Nairobi via Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania & Kenya.
