Today, was quick trips to bikes shops, wedding dress sale (very funny queing for opening) then off, N driving in the madness of this traffic...thank goodness its Sunday. Very sad to have left Ian, his cheeky face from the helmut and very calm navigating, but still think his crocs and jocks penalty was poor. Riding with the jocks on your head just doesn't cut it Ian. Back towards Santa Monica 1.5 hours and we are still in LA then up the coast we went, this time the SUV leading the way. Thick fog on the coast for a while, drove onto Santa Barbara pier and had lunch then up inland for a while to Solvang, a beautiful European town up in the mountains with a M/cycle museum, town started by Europeans and has kept that theme. Could have stayed here easily, but we were on a mission to Monterey. Down the mountains back to the coast, temp dropped rapidly, past lovely vineyards, horse studs and huge market gardens. A total scenery change and huge orange pumpkins everywhere plus peas, toms, cabbage. Its coming up Halloween so there are pumkoins for Africa and every grower has a theme with scarecrows, haybales, witches etc a wonderful sight. Pismo is very much a beachy tourist town, went to Brads for dinner and experience Clam Chowder in a huge bread bowl.....sooooo good.
