Very tense day as we start off to cope with the traffic of LA, nothing like the politeness of the trip so far, so we are prepared!!We dropped down very quickly to the valleys of LA, steep hills open rock and barren brown then there was the smog!!! Oh for the open space of the desert or the plains of Missouri!!very fast traffic but all went ok and it was so nice to see flowers, gardens and greenery, then to smeel the sea at Santa Monica, the end of Route 66. Ride right out onto the pier and went to Bubba Gumps for lunch and to say goodbye to Wendy and Mike, very sad as she had become one of the family, a great guide and so much fun., We really enjoyed her company, had full trust in her and hope that they enjoyed having kiwis to travel with. Dropped off Ian,s bike at Marine Del rey as he is also leaving us today then found our way to Anaheim. The truck is in the lead now as we have GPS Thank goodness, I don't know how we would have managed with it. Kim was waiting at the hotel, great to have her with us for the last part.
Jo Brian and Kim spent next day at Disneyland, rest of us went to San Diego, started off in fog down the coast, but cleared and we travelled off the interdate past all the beaches, made us feel at home. Found Seaport Village and spent most of our time there as it was so lovely. Guess what, there was a shop 'Cabbage Tree, NZ Creationz!! Run by a girl from Onerahi (Whangarei) only one in USA and only NZ products and craft. Had a Hokey pokey ice cream, a great chat and very nice break. Watched the fireworks display at Disneyworld from our hotel that night.
