Where I stayed
Some of the more interesting stories I remember:
There was one mansion where the guy that lived there had 7 girlfriends who each had their own small house on the same land except one girlfriend who was smart and asked for a house further down the street overlooking the water. When the guy got married, all the girlfriends had to leave except the one who had house on the water - she got to keep hers.
In another mansion, the family had their own house and they bought the one next to it because they didn't want to have obnoxious neighbors.
Another family had two houses as well. One was for the wife & kids and the other house for the husband where he lived with his massive collection of antiques - he was scared the children would ruin his collection which is why he chose to live in his own house seperate from them.
Anyways, the wedding started at 7:00 with a cocktail hour. The Ceremony was at sunset at 8:00 and was beautiful. Then there was another cocktail hour with sushi and a raw bar. And finally the curtains were raised on the reception hall and it was stunning! Once food was served, most of us were so full from all the cocktails that we hardly ate and the portions were surprisingly huge! Joey got the sirloin and I got sea bass.
Then the crazy dessert table ladies came out with cake, caramel apples, and chocolate and strawberry milkshakes. There was also a station with chocolate chip cookies and ice cream to make ice cream sandwhiches. Then there was a table with different sorbets andd fresh fruit and an espresso and cappucino bar
Unfortunately, I got a cappucino but Joey and I were not able to enjoy any dessert because we were sooooooooo stuffed from all the food that we felt like we were going to pop. So we just danced instead until party ended.
The next morning, Jill's parents arranged a farewell breakfast at the Hyatt for the guests. So again, we ate ... eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, muffins, pastries, bagels, fruit.
Then, Joey and I got in the car and headed back to Florida ---- 23 hours!! It was kinda rough but we made it!
