Thursday morning we headed out towards Newton, Massachusetts. We left at 10:30 with a 6 hour 20 minute drive ahead of us.

The day was spent paying ridiculous quantities of money on tolls (including $8 on a highway in New Jersey and another $8 to get over the George Washington Bridge in NY) and being stuck in traffic due to construction, accidents, rush hour, and god knows what else.

Additionally, the lady at the toll on the GW Bridge tells us we have a few more tolls ahead and since we just gave her our last $8, we get off the next exit to find an ATM. As it turns out, we're in the Bronx on some ghetto, scary looking streets trying to find a Chase Bank. Even the GPS gets confused and starts driving us around in circles! The best part of it is…. We don’t even come across another toll until we reach the Massachusetts Turnpike, 3 hours later.

By the time we got to grammy’s, it was 7:50.

The only saving grace today was my excitement at a full serve gas station. As we pull into a gas station in New Jersey, a guy comes up to the car and proceeds to fill it up with gas for us. This is great! I mean, I know people used to do this, but I didn’t know they still do this in some places. Joey laughs at me because he thinks it’s funny that I’m so amused (I took a picture of course). And I find out that they apparently still do this at a lot of gas stations up north.
