I also called the hostel which had been recommended to me by the people at the Bird's Nest, but they were full. After lunch, it had stopped raining, I went back to the girl at the other bar and we went up to the house across the street to see if there was anybody around. I was welcomed by a very friendly old lady who rents out a room, so I decided to stay at least for a night.
The girl at the bar also knew someone who rents surf boards, so when I went down again, the guy was already waiting for me. I met a Norwegian on the beach who had been around for a few days and had an idea of how much I should pay for the board which was helpful. This was the first time I tried with a short board and the waves were also much different to what I already knew, like breaking a bit here and there, so I ended up paddling around a lot, getting used the the very less stable short board compared to the longboards which had been given to me before. Not really successfully, but it was still fun. And this place is wonderful, it's very quiet, no tourists around, only a few travellers and a few locals.
Met another friendly Rastaman (Rastas are the relaxed, peaceful people like my driver to Nine Mile) who showed me a good restaurant, I invited him for a beer and learned a bit about Rastafari. Went on to another bar and watched locals play Domino.
The weather got very bad again and I didn't do much more than hanging around. On Sunday in addition everything was closed, so went to Porty for some lunch at a restaurant called Anna Banana.
