Guatemala City is expensive. Paid like five dollars for the five minutes taxi ride to the chicken bus station (and asked at my hostel, no stupid tourist price ;-), then one dollar for the one hour ride to Antigua.
Arrived early and it was nice and quiet, I noticed some festivity preparations, amongst other drawings with flowers and vegetables on the streets, which turned out to be for the start of the Semana Santa, I happened to be there just in time! By 11 when the procession started, I was blocked within masses of people and could do nothing else than wait until everyone started moving again.
Had some lunch and then made my way to the local market where usually the bus parks are, but had to find out that the bus back to 'Guate' in this case leaves at the other end of the city.
So crossed the city once again, not sure how many kilometers I walked east and west, north and south through the cobblestone streets, past ruins for which the town is famous and some nice colonial buildings. Don't know much about architecture, nor am I usually interested in the names of the buildings, just wander around and enjoy nice views :-)
