Flag of Nicaragua  ,
Tuesday, March 27, 2012

This spanish colonial town was recommended to us by literally every traveller we had met on the way. And it really has it's charm. Colonial buildings, colourful houses, market, and it is well located at the lake of Nicaragua which assures a little breeze for which even I am glad beause it is hot, even for me.
In the hostel we met a Swiss couple again whom I got to know in Bocas some weeks ago, they are from the Bern area as well and I will soon start speaking 'Bärndütsch' ;-) We played a swiss card game (tschou sepp), but I was not really fit, maybe the sun or the rum is doing some damage to my brain or I am just getting old ;-)
It keeps happening that you meet travellers on the route again which is really nice on one hand, on the other hand it shows how touristic Central America is and I unfortunately don't speak Spanish a lot because we somehow just follow the backpacking places which are usually crowded with Americans and many hostels and bars are lead by international owners.
