This was a flying visit, but one worthwhile we felt. Maryborough was a small town south of Town of 1770, as we made our way back to Brisbane. The draw from here was that it is the birthplace of P.L. Travers, author and creator of the beloved English Nanny, Mary Poppins. The town itself is decorated in tributes to the fictional character, including quotes from the stories and even a lifesized bronze model of Mary Poppins herself.
Also the fish and chips shop is shut, on a Friday, at 8.30pm. Hungry Jacks, however, served us with a smile.
