Woo hoo!! We made it to Scotland (after another delayed flight - I haven't boarded a flight on time since coming to Europe) and met up with my mom! It was great to see her and it was fun getting to ride on the left side of the road in the taxi - we were all surprised how much it threw us off and I'm glad we took a taxi rather than renting a car. We were a little late for the Harry Potter Fan Trip orientation because of the flight delays but made it there in time to get our name tags and itineraries and hop on a bus to get a tour of Edinburgh. The town is so cute and very old school European. On our tour we saw castles and the Queen's Scotland residence that she was in as recent as a week ago! We also saw the hotel where J.K. Rowling finished writing the Deathly Hallows and the Elephant Cafe where she began writing the HP series on a napkin. Apparently J.K. lives/loves Edinburgh.
We had dinner with the group in the hotel after walking around in the town for a bit. My first impression of Edinburgh is that it is much more Americanized/westernized than the rest of the European locations that I have been this summer (it has Pizza Hut, Pink, Starbucks, etc.) and that there were an awful lot of costume stores! I was also stoked to learn that we'll be seeing the movie on the 15th in London (we get to London that afternoon)!
I can't believe that the tour has started and I'm excited to see what's next!
