hey
what a day, surfing is hard!! had my first lesson this morning, managed to stand up on the board but not for long. booked myself in for a group lesson but ended up having a private lesson. the surf school is based in hard rock hotel so put on my surf gear, board shorts and wetsuit like long sleeve t-shirt and went to the pool to learn the basic techniques and safety. then went straight out to the sea, theres no messing about here. managed to stand up after a couple of tries but struggled to keep balanced. its pretty hard and im definatly not a natural surfer! well at least not yet. kept getting a face full of water, the waves and current are quite strong. was pretty tired after a while but kept getting back on eventhough i was showing very little sign of improvement! in the end i only managed 30 secs or so upright, theres still a long way to go before im truely surfing the waves
after such a strenous morning i was seriously looking forward to some pampering. booked ourselves into for a royal bali bliss package, 'an ultimate pampering, renew, refresh, relax and rejuvenate your body and mind, you will get pampering from head to toe...' we had an aromotherapy footbath, traditional balinese massage, face refresher, lavender body wash, body scrub, body conditioning and aromoatherapy floral bath with ginger tea and cookies! 3 hours of pure indulgence! definately felt a whole lot better after that and i think i deserved it after the morning i had! and i think it worked as suddenly helina and were really popular afterwards! suddenly everyone wanted to be our friend, haha! even got a couple of email addresses and business cards, we figured we must have been glowing or something! of course all strictly platonic, we love our boys at home.
went to a cool place for dinner, the walls were completely covered wtih scribbles and doodles. of course we had to leave our mark as well, apparently we're the first british chinese customers they've had. theres loads of australians and orientals here but not many british. food was pretty good as well, cheap and cheerful, had chicken satay, chicken curry and seafood fried rice between us and all for just over 2.50, very good.
its our last night in bali. tomorrow night we're flying back to KL and from there hopefully a good dive site on the coast so i can get my padi open water qualification. will chat to you all again soon xxx

Hey Annie, wow surfing?? haha, did helina not give it a go?
can't ever imagine trying to do that! no no!!
And the pampering......you deserve it sweetie x
riding the waves!!
Never imagined you to be a surfer! It brought back memories of you clambering onto that lido, or was it lidos(one on either side), back in Cyprus!! Hilarious! I can imagine it being something not far from that.
Well, once I get my swimming certificate(in 3 months time) I'll be out there joining you- I wish. Oh, how much I'd love to be riding the waves right now. Anyway, glad you know how to balance out a hard day's work with some pleasure too.
Me and Az are sooo envious! Take care.
cowabunga!
omg! You look like a pro! Are you sure you and Helina didn't superimpose you onto that surf board?
