hey
this is going to be a quick one, getting ready to go out to see the light show over at tsim sha tsui. arrived in hong kong 3 days ago, settling in well, i even got a bus back to the hotel. went out the first night to lang gwai fong, where all westerners go out to drink and party. its pretty cool, loads of bars and clubs, we popped in and out according to the music they had playing. pretty weird feeling being around so many westerners, felt like i was clubbing back home.
hong kong has been a bit of a shock after friendly thailand. people here are a lot more brash and impatient, sometimes just plain rude. just the hong kong way i guess, maybe its cos i understand what they are saying. although i cant answer back cos my chinese is pretty rubbish
morning! didnt have time to finish yesterday, had to rush out. the light was really good, there are so many high rise buildings on the riverside and quite a few of them work together and flash their lights according to the music, a little bit strange at first but once its over you realise that its quite cool after all. had dinner in a proper chinese restaurant last night, time out said that he duck was unmissable so we ordered a whole one between 2 of us, they didnt sell half. we were completed stuffed afterwards! dont think either of us will be eating roast duck for a long time!
wondered around tsim sha tsui riverside yesterday, a nice change from the hectic city. spent our first day here in mong kong markets, its so crowded. its weird coming here after bangkok as everything cheaper so suddenly everything seems less appealing. there doesnt seem to be anything extra special, nothing uniquely hong kong. the riverside is nice though, it has all the grand hotels and museums. also excellent views of the skyline of hong kong island.
after a few hours there we went up to victoria peak, it was soo misty! took the peak tram up which is really cool. the climb is really steep and you can catch good views of the city below. unfortunately when we got out of the station it looked like somewhen was spraying water outside, it was so cloudy. however i was still determine to complete the 3km walk around the peak which should have had excellent views but it was too cloudly to see anything. its a shame though, cos from what i could make out throught he clouds, it would have been stunning.
times up now, going to meet tien's friend anita for dim sum. chat to you all soon xx
