What I did
Santa Catarina Winery
We visited a most lovely winery. On the cold, dark rainy day it was just the thing. We did a wine tasting in a hugh barrel vaulted stone room lit by candle chandeliers. The winery is owned by a Swedish millionaire who clearly has put a lot of money into it. We tasted 4 wines, all very good, and ate bread and manchego chees (very yummy Spanish cheese) and loives. They had flor de sel in different flavors to spinkle on the bread with olive oil which Andrea loved (She wonders how she is going to live without all of this wonderful bread once she is home). A very cute young man, named Gabriel explained the wines to us and the pours were not just tastes but whole glasses.
It was the perfect activity for a rainy day.
We returned to the ship and lost again at trivia and Sue was once again deprived of her bingo. Look for her at home in the bingo room at the various local casinos.
Then, as has become the pattern on this ship, the Captain came on with a ship wide announcement. In his very slow way, he told us that he had been reviewing the weather for the past few days and thinking very hard about what to do. He announced that we were skipping Valencia and going straight to Barcelona as he was concerned that if we didn't grab a brief window of decent weather, we might not be able to get into Barcelona at all. He told us all to take our seasick pills and not to worry. No one seemed crushed about an extra day in Barcelona.
