Show trip route
The interior of the island is very mountainous and for centuries the population lived mostly in the mountains to avoid the malaria and other mosquito born illnesses found along the coast. That has changed and now the population is centered on the coastal areas. We didn't ride the train but there is one that traverses the island. It does take a long time to get from one side to the other.
For our tour we began with a lovely drive through the countryside to a nougat factory
We then drove up the mountain to an essential oil factory. We had to hike up the mountain to get to the factory, we all made it in one piece. It was run by two Corsican brothers (was this the Corsican Brotherhood?) We learned how they made these essential oils and what they are used for. Sue had canker sores that were cured by the oil she bought! We are all happy that this is all that has gone wrong with Sue so far on this trip.
Then on to the winery
Then we got on our us and went back to the ship, for our first day of trivia. Sue is pretty competitive, in case some of you haven't realized that, and we did not win. In fact, we only got 5 right. Oh well, Sue and Andrea then played Bingo and Andrea is currently up $1.00 and 5 Regent rewards points.
We had a dinner at one of the specialty restaurants and Ken and Andrea went to the show (a good singer, who apparently recorded the Love Boat theme, who sounded like Frank Sinatra, while the Susans went to the casino. Ms. Rhode brags that she is up $5.00.
