Where I stayed
(Ken has now noted that I have given away too much editorial control over the blog and has suggested that I yank it back
We got to Stockholm on time. After listening to announcements on the plane in both Dutch and English, we have determined that the Dutch were getting way more information than we were. The cruise line met us at the airport and we took a bus to the hotel. We stayed in the Scandic Anglais. A very scandinavian styled hotel. No extra amenities here. Be thankful you have soap. It is still a comfortable place, good beds with duvets and very modern plumbing including a choice of the big or little flush on the toilet. We went for a walk through the Humlegarden around the Swedish National Library, we paid homage to Linneas ( extra points for those of you who can correctly identify why the Swedes put a statue of him in their park), strolled around the shopping and bar scene and tried to find a place for dinner. Because we were in Sweden Susan L wanted Italian food, but the wait was too long. We ended up back in the hotel where we ate internationally. Ken had Spanish food, Susan R had Mexican (Caesar Salad was invented in Mexico), Susan L ate American and Andrea went with Swedish, but wondered where the top bread slice was on her shrimp sandwich, After trying to repack her bags so they can be efficiently taken by the porters in the morning, Andrea realized she was so jet lagged she couldn't make any decisions and she surrendered and went to bed.
This morning we went to the included breakfast buffet in the hotel, where Ms. Lach indulged in her favorite breakfast, tomatoes and pickles
We are now anticipating catching the bus to the boat and meeting our butler!
