What I did
Republicans and Fox News guys
We left Minnesota this morning in a snowstorm. The plane was on time, we pulled out from the gate and had to wait to get de-iced. While we were waiting, a woman, who clearly had some anxiety issues, decided that she couldn't fly. So, unbelievably to me, they returned to the gate and let her and her sisters off the plane. Then we had to wait to be de-iced again. The consequence of all this was that we missed our connection in Atlanta to Charleston, but no big deal, they had us rebooked on a later flight before we landed. They didn't even lose our luggage. We have nothing to complain about.
And what do you know - it's restaurant week in Charleston. We have a knack for finding restaurant weeks. We ate at a great restaurant called Muse, in an old house. Very cozy and friendly and the food, Mediterranean, was great. I had something call "wreckfish" which is a local fish that hangs out around ship wrecks. Very excellent, but they really need to rename it. Ken had a shellfish and fish stew which he termed, "better than average".
So here it is the evening before the South Carolina primary, The hotel is the headquarters for the Southern Republican leadership and they are everywhere. The interesting thing is that not only are Republicans everywhere ( Newt 2012 sticker on suits abound) but there are Fox news people hanging out with them. So we sit in the bar at the hotel and eavesdrop. Now, Ken is struggling with keeping his mouth shut; he keeps wanting to "set them straight". I am doing my best to convince him that there is no setting them straight. Now he is talking about voting tomorrow. I think I will have to vote for Herman Cain.. Who knows who Ken will vote for. :-)
Anderson Cooper is broadcasting from Charleston, for those of you who love him, but I am too tired to go see him. Can't find Stephen Colbert. Her must not be in Charleston. I would go find him if he were here. :-) We will let you know how the election comes out, in case they don't broadcast the results back home.
We will miss you, Etta James.
