This morning I woke up bright and early to head to the aeroport and check my status for a standby flight. I was at the airport around 8:30am. The lady working at the ticket office verified my name and confirmed my status on the waiting list. She told me to return at 9:15am to find out if I would be able to take the 10:30am flight to Montreal.
Guys, I am sooooooooooooooo blessed.
After a few phone calls and a 100 euro change fee later, I was told that I'd be able to get on the flight! She directed me to a lady at the Air Canada terminal who would allow me to bypass the check in process with my bags and give me my boarding pass. After clearing security, I waited at the gate to board the plane. It was 10am and no one had started boarding yet. They called for first/business class, then passengers with children, and finally everyone else. I handed the attendant my boarding pass when I got onto the plane and looked at it for the first time.
My seat was listed as 06K. Odd, I thought. I never usually get such a low number... I searched around for my seat number and it slowly dawned on me that I was in first class.
I giddily stowed away my now broken bookbag in the overhead bin and settled myself into the reclining cubby like seat. This is one of the only times in life I've been able to fly first class so I was ridiculously excited. My seat was more like a private little room: 13 inch fold out TV, multi-positional reclining seat, fluffy standard sized pillow... I could go on and on. They served champagne before taking off and I had a feast like lunch complete with free refills of Chardonnay. I took a few pics (of the food), and after watching How to Train Your Dragon, I reclined the seat and settled in for the best slumber I have ever achieved on an aeroplane. I'll stop the details here. Just know that I am soo grateful that I was able to leave this morning AND fly first class.
I'm currently in Montreal again, waiting on my flight to Chicago which leaves around 5:50pm... An hour and 50 minutes from now. From Chicago I'll be taking another first class flight into Jacksonville that arrives at 11:15 tonight. Fancy, I know.
Anyway, THIS may be the last entry of my saga because I'm sure everything will go smoothly from here on out. Thank you everyone once again for sharing in my adventure and I hope to see you all soon!
