So today started off pretty well. My flight from Quimper left at 6:55am sharp and I arrived in Paris (Orly) at exactly 8am. My baggage arrived at 8:20am, and the shuttle to take me to Charles de Gaulle aeroport arrived at 8:32am. However, it took a good 10 minutes or so to load everyone's baggage on the bus and for everyone to pay their bus fare. After a REALLY anxious bus ride, I arrived at CDG at 9:30am... and apparently the check in for my 10:30am flight ended at 9:30. I explained my situation to an Air Canada employee and hoped they would have mercy on my and just hurry and check my bags.
No such luck.
Instead, I was advised to see the AC ticket office to try and take a later flight. So I waited.
And waited some more.
At 10:30am, I was told that the 11:20am flight was full, and to come back at 12:30pm to check on a possible 1:30pm flight. Mackenzie in hand, I camped out at a McDo (free wifi) and called my love ones to update them on my pitiful situation. After a semi-satisfying lunch, I returned to the ticket office only to be told at 1pm that I would not be able to take the 1:30pm flight, and to come back tomorrow at 8 in the morning to try once more.
When they told me I wouldn't be able to board my first flight, I was angry.
But when they told me I wouldn't be able to take any plane at all, the tears came.
Yup, Angela the crybaby had to try her best NOT to cry in the midst of a busy airport. It was pretty hard, too. After this new bad news, I had to reserve a hotel and call a taxi to get me there. I opted for Best Western Roissy and the taxi agency had a taxi sent to pick me up in 5 minutes. The taxi driver helped me with my bags and I hopped in the back seat. Miserable.
My taxi driver bombarded me with conversation so I spilled my dilemma and he seemed to at least have sympathy for me. The hotel was maybe 4 minutes away (but still a ridiculous 17,63 euros) and I checked in without a problem. The hotel is nice, four stars, with a sauna, fitness room, fancy restaurant and full service bar. At this point, I'm not feeling up for the sauna, but I will head down to the restaurant for dinner tonight and treat myself to a glass (or two) of rosť.
I will be back in the States HOPEFULLY by tomorrow night. Prayers, please.
