Coucou tout le monde! I'm back yet again with nouvelles and happenings of the last few days. I will try to be relatively brief and straight forward because I'm pretty tired and I don't feel the need to go into too much detail.

vendredi le 25

On Friday, tons of Angélique's friend's and coworkers came over for our soirée. I picked up Alida and brought her to the house where everyone was already beginning to take their before dinner drinks and snacks. I stick with my banana rum and some pretzels and listened in to everyone's conversation... which was broken up into small groups. With a total of 9 people talking at once, I decided to just talk to the two people around me. We shared tons of laughs, and when it started to get dark around 10pm, we ate a barbecue dinner. After dessert, it was about time to get ready for the disco. I flat ironed my unruly hair in record time and changed into my club outfit: a turquoise v-neck tank, black shorts, and black heels. Angélique had advised earlier that no one in France wears shorts to the club, but I knew better. The club was about 7 minutes away so we got there very quickly around 11:45 maybe. My first impression started at the parking lot... which wasn't very full. That usually means that the club isn't too popular... especially when there is no line of people waiting outside to get in. I shrugged it off. It could have been a slow night. The bouncers eyed us appreciatively and wished us a good evening, and we headed inside. I'm not sure what I was expecting out of the disco, but I certainly was not expecting a salsa night. Yup, salsa music blared from the DJ booth while scattered couples salsa-ed on the dance floor. Angélique suddenly went to greet this old man who I recognized from our ballroom dance classes. Small world, eh? He danced with each one of us in the group and I clumsily pretended to know how. After sitting out a few dances, the music changed slightly (for the better), so we all got up to dance.

I had a blast.

I just danced danced danced myself happy with my new French friends. There were mini stages around the dance floor, so Angélique and I took it upon ourselves to climb up on one where we danced together to a mélange of salsa/electro/pop music. One guy after seeing me onstage was brave enough to approach me, but dumb enough to try and have a conversation over the deafening music. We danced for a bit, but then I left him to find the other girls who were ready to leave. It was around 3am when we got back to the house and I wasn't that tired, but I went to sleep anyway because I promised Alida I would take her to work in the morning.

samedi le 26

After forcing myself to get up bright in early, I drove Alida to her job in Quimper, and managed to get lost for 30 minutes before finding my way back home.

The rest of the day I slept in and everyone pretty much lazed about the house. Later on in the evening, we'd be attending the "fête du quartier", neighbourhood party, that is. In the middle of the afternoon I received a call from Alida who managed to get herself in the emergency room after vomiting and passing out from heat exhaustion. She was stranded and needed someone to pick her up, but I knew I wouldn't be able to find the hospital. So instead, Cyril hopped on his motorcycle and brought her back to the house where she rested up and we all enjoyed the party. I met a married couple and their teenage daughters who frequently visit the US, specifically Florida. They shared their trip with me and raved about Naples and Key West while I just nodded and smiled because I haven't even been myself. The party continued late into the night and everyone had dinner (more bbq, mmm) and dessert. Around 11:45pm (always 11:45, lol), I took Alida home and sped back to the house so I could get some sleep. Good evening.

 dimanche le 27

Nothing to report, really. We all hung around the house doing nothing.

lundi le 28

I finally have made my solid plans for Paris! I'm going this weekend starting Friday and I'll be leaving on Sunday. I've got my train tickets and hotel reservation and I really can't wait!

and finally, today

I went to SuperU to buy some gas when some random guy walks up to me and tries to seduce me. No lie. It was actually pretty funny. He goes "Mais t'es trop charmante, toi." (You're so charming) I smiled, thanked him, and kept walking but he persisted. He starts telling me how cute I am and I start to say "I know.", but I just smile and act bashful. He asks where I'm from and I give him the rundown:

"I'm from the US."
"I'm here for vacation."
"2 months."
and most importantly,
"Yes, I have a boyfriend."

He seems undeterred. He tells me he's from Paris and he's on vacation here, too. He goes on to say that he has a vacation house in Ile-Tudy (next to Bénodet) with a pool and I am more than welcome to visit. I decline and remind him once more that I do have a boyfriend. He finally gets the hint and resigns. He wishes me a good day and I go on about my business.

Apparently the cashier at the SuperU station had gone to lunch or whatever, so I decided to just drive to Quimper and buy gas at Géant. After that, I ate in this crêperie I had always wanted to try. Honestly, I've had better. I ordered a crêpe with cheese, mushrooms and ham. When they served it, it was saturated in butter. It was just okay, and that's all I can really say. After my meal, I loitered around in the supermarket and ended up buying a cd by Stromae, a really awesome Belgian artist that EVERYONE should check out in their life. After that, I headed home and here I am now.

I'm in the process of making plans to see Emilie, my friend from Nantes next Sunday so I hope I will have an interesting story to tell about that later. For now, expect the next entry to be about my weekend à Paris!

Bisous, my friends!
