It feels totally natural to be here now. No weirdness at all. I'm just as comfy here as I would be in Tallahassee or in Jacksonville. In fact, there's just about everything I'd look for in a city in the Bretagne region. The countryside is beautiful, the climate is lovely during the summer months, and Quimper is both charming and metropolitan. With this newfound comfort in my surroundings, I've been venturing outside of Tréméoc lately. Yesterday, I decided to go to Pont l'Abbé to pick up some books that I'll need for the fall. The trip was relatively uneventful this time. It rained, so I didn't linger around too long. I tried to get another one of my delicious crêpes, but the crêperie is closed until Thursday. Sad and downtrodden, I walked solemnly back to my car (in the pouring rain)
Once inside my car, I backed out of my parking space and geared myself back toward Tréméoc. As my luck would have it, it was a cold and rainy day and the inside of the warm car quickly fogged up all of my windows. This would not have been a problem had I been able to properly operate and locate the defroster. However, I wasn't that lucky so I cursed my misfortune and decided to press on. With zero visibility out of my side mirrors, my rearview, or even my windshield, my anxiety levels reached an all time high. As if being totally blind wasn't bad enough, the rain continued to make my driving conditions all the more dangerous. In order to see directly ahead of me (no peripheral vision whatsoever) I had to keep wiping my windshield every minute or so before it would fog over and I'd have to wipe it again. I drove slowly to avoid hitting any pedestrians (or cars) and eventually I made it home, windows all fogged up, but quite alive.
Today I went out with my friend Joffrey (yes, I have been spelling his name completely wrong). He picked me up from Carrefour and he gave me a lovely tour of downtown Quimper. We visited the cathedral of Quimper and it was really beautiful. Just like Notre Dame, really.
Anyway, after lunch we decided to meet two of his friends at a nearby bar. His friends were pretty cool. Just normal teenage boys. At the bar, I relished in my right to purchase and consume alcohol and opted for the fruitiest drink I could find. The concoction was called the Hawaiian Vodka and as you can image, it contained just about every tropical liqueur created and it was topped off wit a orange/lime/marshmallow garnish and a glowstick. Very girly, if I do say so myself. Joffrey stuck with a plain old beer, and his friends got a hot chocolate and Orangina. The ambiance of the bar was pretty laid back
After are drinks were finished, we all said our goodbyes, and I headed home with no problem at all. Now I'm here wondering where my family has run off to. Oh well.
Next-next weekend I think I'll make my trip to Paris finally! I'm hyper excitée and ready to see all the musées and tour eiffel (again). I wanna parade down the champs élysée and buy ridiculously expensive Dior trinkets and cheap mini eiffel tower keychains. Paris is sooo interesting and alive so it'll be a nice change of pace to get out of the countryside.
Till then, my next adventure in Quimper starts tomorrow. I miss you guys, thanks for reading, and I'll write again soon!
