Unfortunately both George and Craig had to head back to Virginia so they didn't come along with us. Kathy and I were both headed home but decided to make a stop here along the way. James. Scott, John, Lisa and Bob were heading north to run the Yough on Monday so they also made a stop here.
Valley Falls is a state park in Fairmont, WV that has several runnable waterfalls. James has been here before and was able to show us the lines through several of the park's waterfalls and water-slides.
All kayakers must stop and sign a waiver before being allowed to run the falls
James chose an easier line through a middle waterslide to start everyone off on. Everyone landed cleanly. The second drop was a true waterfalls, maybe about 1-12 feet high. All of the slides and falls had clean pools at the bottom so swims weren't too problematic and from the looks of things going on there were many people taking their first waterfalls runs and swimming.
Valley Falls is a great place to hold an intro to waterfalls clinic and a great place to go to run your first clean waterfall and slide. You could spend hours here just running drop after drop.
We ran some drops and took some pictures and video before continuing on our way home from our very fun weekend at the Yough and New Rivers.
