I was itching to take my kayak out since it had been awhile since I was last in it. I also just got a new dvd called "White Water Kayaking:Basics For Women" which had some helpful tips in it that I was hoping to try out.

I didn't really have anyone to go out with since everyone I know who paddles had plans. So I talked my family into coming down and watching me kayak around the Landingville Dam.
Since I'm new to kayaking and already had a pretty big mishap flipping over and getting stuck under the kayak I thought it would be a good idea to leave my spray skirt off and have some people around shore to make sure nothing too bad happened.

Since we had my brother's dog for the weekend we thought it would be nice to take both the dogs to the dam while I paddled.

There weren't alot of people at the dam but there were a few motor boats that were making waves. We weren't sure if the dogs would like it or not but they both saw a frog and nearly pulled my mom into the dam to get it! She got soaked! Both the dogs really seemed to like playing in the water.
I was out in the dam for a little bit. I was working on keeping the kayak in a straight line as I paddle, working on the stength of my left side and a few different types of draws I learned from my video.

I discovered that I need ALOT more flatwater practice! Its a shame there's not anything any closer to my house but I got to figure out a way to get more practice in. I hope to run a small river before the end of the season but I have alot to learn yet.

I did sign up for a kayak clinic in the Poconos but they couldn't get me in til the end of August. Until then I need to work on it more.
