Landing in Heathrow, I stepped off the plane and breathed in a lung full of cold fresh air. The crispness tingled my nose and I burst into tears! I felt so happy to be home, but so sad that my travels were over. For the time being anyway - I'm already thinking about where I want to go next time!
My Dad was waiting for me at the airport and it was so good to see him.
The airport seemed deserted compared to India, although it was probably average for that time in the morning. Driving back to my Dad's house everything was unreal - the daffodils bobbing on green grassy banks, the empty road, space everywhere, things moving so fast and efficiently, cars were even staying in the lanes on the road. It felt like I was in a computer game or a sterile biosphere environment of the future.
I got thoroughly pampered for a night at my Dad's (being fed smoke salmon, scrambled eggs and champagne for my first meal) and then travelled back to Brighton the following day to be reunited with Darren.
At home and in my neighbourhood nothing seemed to have changed, except everything seemed smaller.
