I have gone to Bogota, Colombia before on a vacation. I have heard from many people that Bogota, Colombia is not safe for tourists.. There are many negative comments about Colombia mostly initiated by the news papers.  They love to sensationalize to sell their papers.  Most of these people have never visited this great city.  I have and I can tell you it is not anything like what you hear on the news or what you see in the movies.

Bogota is a fantastic place.   The people in Bogota are so hospitable in accepting guests.  They made me feel like I was important and they wanted to learn about the USA.  The food in Bogota is also very good.  Their tasty pan and cookies where very nice.  I got allot for my dollar in Colombia and I enjoyed every dollar I spent.

When I was there, I stayed in an apartment owned by a woman named Martha.  She became my friend when I was there.  Her family was so warm in accepting me in their place. Their apartment was cool with an "at home atmosphere." It was well furnished and pretty neat too. It was all worth the money.  I rented the entire apartment for myself.  I could come go as I pleased as the owners do not live on the property.

I am planning to return to Bogota in 2009.  I had so much fun there that I go over my memories of Bogota all the time.
