Reluctantly we had to leave Hvar and headed back to Split, which turned out to not be as bad as our first impression had been a few days earlier. We spent a day on the Riva (seafront) and wandered round Diolecian's Palace, a ruin of a roman palace that makes up the old town. Here we saw many stray cats and kittens. The palace was quite pretty in places, and we had our final dinner in the square in the old town. Although not as lovely as the islands, Split was definitely better than we both thought, and I finally tried jaffa cake ice cream, which was lovely. We spent our finaly night in Croatia in an apartment near the market, before flying back to London on July 5th. We were both very sad to leave Croatia and it's laid back lifestyle, delicious food and beautiful scenery. We will be coming back one day, especially as we both managed to pick up a few words of croatian! (Jagoda means strawberry, dobar dan is hello or good day and hvala is thank you).
