We travelled to Leshan mainly to see the famous giant Buddha statue, but also to renew our visas, having heard that it was one of the best places to do it. There is not that much in Leshan apart from the Buddha, so if we hadn't had to get the visa, we would have only come on a day trip. However, we were there a day and a half and so we saw the Buddha and wandered around the town. We went to see the Buddha on a ferry, and then went to the site itself, on the side of a cliff. The statue looked much bigger close up - his ear was taller than me!

At the Buddha site we saw an old Chinese man with a white beard and a coat covered in dragons. David reckoned he was a Kung Fu master!

We succeeded with the visa extension and so we have another month in which to explore more of China and get to Hong Kong.

After Leshan we headed to Emei Shan.
