Day 21 – Saturday 15th May

Today we went to Otalavo. Otavalo is famous for its weekend markets.

I really wanted to buy a swinging chair that lots of stalls were selling but I decided that as I have nowhere to hang it and as it wouldn't fit in my backpack, it probably wouldn´t be the best of ideas.

After looking around the central market place, I wandered off and found the more local market where people were buying food, clothes and intriguing 10 film-in-one DVDs. That part of the market was probably the most interesting and I didn’t see any other tourists down there. I also stumbled across an Ecuavolley (volleyball) tournament. Some of the rallies went on for over a minute

In the main weekend market part, there were people eating food out of the market bins which is something I haven’t seen in central Quito.

After seeing the market we got a taxi to see the Cascadas de Peguche (Peguche Waterfalls) and then had a well deserved beer before catching the bus back to Quito
