Our introduction to Asia could not have been less of a culture shock. Singapore is emphatically clean, efficient and easy to navigate. Great food, and great shopping malls. We seemed to spend most of our time in some underground shopping mall, of which there are vast underground networks. We realised we were starting to get a little too into mall culture when we visited the impressive cultural complex of the city, The Esplanade, and found ourselves gravitating to its mall. There are fab hawker centres throughout the city offering Malay, Thai and Indian cuisines, which the government grades A to D according to hygiene standards, which is very Singapore, as are the government slogans on the tubes to eat healthy and exercise more. Got shown round the city and taken to some fab restaurants - thanks Gustavo and Jobina!
