Where I stayed
Why did we think it was a 1hr 30min flight? Must brush up on our geography. 2hr delay meant 8 1/2 hours. Phew. Tired when we arrived. Next day...
Friday 04 Dec 2009 - Day 5
Andy's birthday. Thanks for my cards and gifts. We woke up in Hollywood. Amazing, 5 min after leaving the hotel we're walking along Hollywood Boulevard, the walk of fame. Took a trip of the stars homes (not inside). Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive. Amazing! The nice parts are clean, people are polite.
Saw some houses recognisable from films (Amityville, the fire escape ladder from Pretty Woman)
Eating lunch with the Hollywood sign in the background. Seen Viper Club (Johnny Depps old club where River Pheonix died), so much more.
Saturday 05 Dec 2009 - Day 6
Universal Studios. What an amazing place. One day not quite enough time to fit it all in. Weather cold today. Everyone's blaming us for bringing it from London. Can't really describe the rides and shows for now. Check out the pictures and we'll tell you all about it when we speak. We're back in the hotel room now, gotta do some washing and eat. cold and gloomy weather.
Sunday 06 Dec 2009 - Day 7
Yay. Hired a car - freedom!! (Chilly and cloudy) Just cruised around today. Visited the Grey Mansion in Hollywood Hills, you know - the huge house used in 'The Bodyguard'. What an amazing place. Not too much to say as we're wanting to go out soon. We just drove around - Franki hoping to glimpse some stars....
Monday 07 Dec 2009 - Day 8
Coffee at 10:00 (1/4 to at the mo.). Robert Downey Jr is doing his hand and footprint ceremony - the red carpet and cameras await. We're gonna go see that, then drive down to San Diego, Santa Monica Boulevard, Venice Beach and along the Coast. See ya...
Day 8 - 7.00pm Francesca here. Rained all day today! got absolutely drenched in the rain waiting to see Robert Downey Junior- however, couldnt wait any longer as car on meter... boo hoo. Drove down to coast in search of the collagened filled beaches we have heard so much about. First one we went to 'Venice Beach' filled with homeless tramps... hmmm... not a good start. After 3 1/2 hours driving we thought we should give up... until we found Manhattan beach. It was absolutely stunning, even in the rain, completley deserted... it really was beautiful. Well worth the wait. Then, off 'home', sandwich and crisps for dinner...mmmm. Bye bye. p.s. Note to Johnathon... Do you get early boarding as an OAP coming back from Spain?
