Where I stayed
Our first Greyhound night bus was long and a bit uncomfortable but we made it to Agnes Water ok and got picked up by our hostel. Southern Cross backpackers was an awesome hostel with a bit of a Balinise feel to it. It meant that the atmosphere was relaxed but vibrant and the communal areas were really well done out, with music playing all day.
We had a shower and snooze to recover from the bus and after some dinner we signed up to 'killer pool'. I can't remember if I've played it before but I really enjoyed it! You had to have one shot each round and if you missed a shot you lost one of your three lives. If you ran out of lives you could 'buy' another life by taking off a piece of clothing... This made it interesting and a few boys got down to their pants (including Andy). One Aussie boy had a few jars and stripped off totally naked which was hilarious
The next day we popped to the town and beach which was lovely. I later read that Lonely Planet described the place as having a Home and Away feel to it and I think they got it pretty spot on!
We went back to the hostel to grab some lunch and get picked up for Scooteroo. When we got there we saw all of the chopper bikes ready for us... I started to get a bit nervous again! We were kitted out with flames on our helmets and leather jackets and then tattooed ourselves up, true biker style! Andy particularly liked my classy rose tatt on my boob! Haha!
After a brief lesson on how to ride the bikes we went on a couple of practice loops around the dirt track, and then we were off! After a tentative start where I was still a bit nervous I quickly got the hang of it. It was so much fun to feel the wind in your face and actually really easy to ride
The final stop was a little place in 1770 (another lazy town name!). We wanted to see the sunset but it was a bit too cloudy so Andy and I hung out with some fishermen on the docks before we headed back to base.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone! It was great to experience my first motorbike ride in a safe environment and we're already looking forward to trying it again.
When we got back to the hostel we had a celebratory beer and I'm sad to say that Andy beat me at table tennis, coming back from me beating him 2-0, to him winning 3-2!!! My only excuse is that I was tipsy but don't worry... I'll seek my revenge! Mwoah ha ha ha ha!!! (Evil laugh).
Until later people!
