Third night here and the heat is still fierce (as evidenced by our sweaty mugs) but we're battling on, in between mammoth snoozes. Saw a Balinese dance called the kecack monkey dance in a beautiful old temple followed by the ritual fire dance which consisted of a guy in a hobby horse outfit kicking flaming coconut shells about with his bare feet. Superb! Finished the night off with a few cocktails and some tapas in Nomad on Jl Raya.
Moved on to the Jungutt Inn this morning and managed to half our accommodation costs to the equivalent of about 4 quid per night.Result. Byebye to Nyuh Gadings long term memory foam mattresses which holds your shape for so longs it hurts to change position. No towels, no toilet roll, no hot water, fan isn't worth a shit but the new place feels nicer somehow. A change is as good as a rest maybe.
Checked out the market this morning for some haggling madness. Bought an auld digital watch there since we've had no concept of timme for ages. Guy wanted 450 thousand for it. Got him down to 60. Result. Explored a bit more of the monkey forest road
then retreated to Jungutt for one of our three times daily cold showers and snoozes. Acclimatisation is in the post.
JAzz evening in Jazz Cafe with pizza and more coctails. Torie wants it to be known that she's not flat out on the cocktails but limits herself to one a night because it goes straight to her wee head.
