After arriving at Las Vegas, I took the camping gear with me to the car rental company before I
left the hectic Las Vegas for the beautiful southwest.
After driving 2 hours toward Page, Arizona, I passed by the beautiful Virgin Gorge. I was just total stunned with the amazing scenery when my car ran over some metal object and there was a loud clunk under my car. Immediately after, I saw the hazard signal came on. I kept driving, hoping I can make it to the nearest city and lo and behold my right rear tire blew out.
Now I am force to pull off the road and I parked my car the the first exit ramp toward St. Geroge Utah. Luckily I have my cell phone , with signal and battery, and I called my AAA. The repairman came less than 30 minutes and put on the spare tire for me. Since I still have 7 more days of driving to do, I called and found the nearest Avis car rental company to switch to a new car. After lots of driving , lost of course, I found the Avis car rental on top of a cliff next to the airport. The service man was really nice who gave me the key to a new red Camry immediately and I was on my way again, Yes !!!
Since my hotel reservation is in Page, 3 hours from St. George, I decided to stock up on supplies and have dinner prior to driving toward Page.
I bought a CD to keep me alert during my long drive to Page. After St. George, the country road gets dark fast and I was driving with my high beam. The stars are so bright and beautiful, something I don't get at all in Los Angeles.
I finally arrive in Page around 12 midnight, so tired I pretty much went to bede right away. I was orginally going to leave the following day at 5 am and make it to 9 am tour at Monument valley, I guess that is not happening now, too tired.
